Mall Madness

Gift cards in hand, we headed out to the mall. The place was a mob scene. I knew when we had to park a half mile away from any entrance that it was a bad sign. We went in against my better instincts. I saw a lot of sale prices, but also a lot of empty racks and stuff in the wrong sizes. This is what I hate about shopping. After an hour of that madness we gave up. Maybe one night next week after work we’ll feel brace and head out again. But today, I’m done with stores and the mall.

Turkey, Duck, Goose or Pheasant?

The traditional Thanksgiving dinner is turkey. But there are some people who like to mix it up a little and fix something other fowl. Like, a goose or a duck. I had goose for Christmas about 12 years ago – that was a nice change and it tasted fantastic!

All I know is that I like turkey and want to keep Thanksgiving based on a turkey dinner. But maybe not turkey again for Christmas. Maybe its time for another goose at Christmas?

New York City?

So, we were talking about New Year’s Eve and if we should stay local or maybe go somewhere to celebrate. Alexa wants to stay home and not worry about drunk drivers and the chance of getting mugged or something bad happening. She wants to make sure the New Year starts out happy and with everybody that she loves safe.

I’m fine with staying home, but it is not the same as being out in the street for a big party with free concerts and fireworks and 100,000 drunks singing “Auld Lang Syne.” Heck, if we are going to go out, why not just do it up and go to New York City? That is one big party at Times Square! Wouldn’t it be fun to be a part of that?

Magazines are Getting Scarce

I have a box of old magazines and I can’t bring myself to throw them out. I already read them once and the information in them is for the most part, dated or obsolete. But have you noticed that it is getting harder and harder to find magazines for sale in local stores? With all the big bookstores gone, all that is left are some grocery stores and maybe MalMart. I like looking at magazines and I like holding real books in my hands. I sure hope someone finds a way to keep magazines and books available for purchase locally and not have to rely on the internet for it all.
