Pizza at Home
Tonight I had a craving for pizza. I was about to call Domino’s when I realized I was low on cash. I c never get pizza delivered for less than $20 and it is usually more than that. So I drove up to the Food Lion and bought two D’Giorno frozen pizzas on sale for five bucks each. They cooked up in 20 minutes, which is less time than Domino’s takes for delivery nowadays. They tasted pretty good. At leas they satisfied my craving for pizza tonight and dinner only cost me ten bucks!

Clicking through a bunch of Facebook profiles last night, I came across this one. It caught my eye because of the intense colors. Then I realized that there were wings that looked like they were attached to her back. What a very cool pose!
When the phone rings at 1:00 am

It was 1:00 am when my phone rang and I knew as I reached for it to answer that it would not be good news. When the phone rings in the middle of the night it is never good news.
A woman was calling, crying, to tell me that her son had just committed suicide by taking a massive prescription drug overdose. Both the mother and her son work for us in the warehouse, third shift. So she was calling to let me know that they would not be at work this morning. The bad news was a shock – I had no idea her son was so depressed that he would ever do anything like that and now I feel guilty for not paying more attention to him. How could I not see that something was so terribly wrong in his life that he would do this? But then, it came as a complete surprise to his mother, too.
Great Fourth
Lat night we watched some spectacular fireworks. Every year the City puts on a free show that is accompanied by the Nashville Symphony. I heard estimates that almost 200,000 people were downtown last night to watch the fireworks show. That is incredible. Thankfully, we avoided that mass of people downtown and went to a little place that I know about on a hill near the fire department. It was very nice weather, the show was great and we were home in less than 20 minutes after it was over.
