Thankfully my company gives out paychecks every week. I’ve gotten used to just every other week or even just twice a month pay periods, so it was a nice surprise to learn that we get paid every single Friday here. It probably sounds silly, but I feel like I have more money when I get a check every week.
The first two paychecks of each month go to the house payment, utilities, and other household bills. The third week’s check is my spending money. That’s what goes toward clothing, sports, trips, concert tickets, books, etc. The fourth week’s check goes into my savings and investments.
I’ve been trying to make the most of the third week money by using coupons, shopping at discount and wholesale stores, and looking for bargains. One of the best sites that I’ve found for coupons and special deals on a lot of things is called www.1-coupons.com. Before I go to any stores I check that site for online coupon code deals and try to shop at the stores where I know I can get a good discount.
This weekend when I’ve got my third week check I plan to hit the malls and outlets stores and buy some summer clothes. The wife and I need some nice casual clothes and some beachwear, so we’ll be going to the department stores and specialty clothing stores. Then she’ll need a couple pairs of shoes to go with the new clothes.
After all that shopping we’ll probably give our feet a break and find a nice restaurant to have a quiet dinner together and if we aren’t too tired we might even take in a movie. Sounds like a typical suburban American dream weekend, doesn’t it?
